It started when I was a kid, the first thing I got to pick out myself was a Wonder Woman t-shirt. My next big t-shirt purchase was in the 80s, a custom t-shirt I designed myself: the humour of a 10 year old + my love of dogs = ‘Watch out I bite’. Unfortunately that was the year that the phrase ‘bite it’ become popular.
My love of tees continued. When I was last living in Toronto I challenged my room mate to a ‘worst t-shirt’ competition where we had to buy each other the worst possible one we could find and had to wear it out to the bar that night. I won, and Jules had to wear a belly button number with the silver words ‘Sexy Bitch’ emblazoned across her chest.
My love of tees, and especially retro ones still continues and when I passed by Bang On on Queen St. I had to go in. I probably spent about an hour there cackling to myself and possibly a few snorts. I’m now saving up to continue my arsenal of amusing t-shirts.
