Every winter for 2 weeks, Toronto offers up ‘Winterlicious’ one of the biggest foodie events in the city. Now running for 10 years, you’ve got 175 restaurants to choose from at prix fixe menu from $25-$45 for lunch or dinner.
First Winterlicious stop: Jump (18 Wellington St. Commerce Court East, M5L 1G4) – Smack in the heart of the Financial District is Jump. I’ve always known about this place but had never been. While sitting at the bar waiting for our table and sipping champers, the manager sent us over a shot of tequila, bonus marks for that. The service was perky, the crab cakes were great, the chicken was a bit dry but the atmosphere was buzzing. Overall, good dinner for $35.
Second Winterlicious stop: Il Posto (148 Yorkville Avenue, M5R 1C2) – Right in the middle of Yorkville is the cozy restaurant tucked away into a courtyard. It’s traditionally Italian from the decor to the menu to our moustached waiter. The Grilled calamari was fantastic, the seafood spaghetti was so – so, but the banana chocolate meringue cake was yummy. Overall, great dinner for $35.
