Ah a nerds delight. Walk into 401 games on Yonge St. and you’ll find an interesting array of characters. I only noticed this store because it was packed on a Saturday and I had to go in and see what was going on. First off, I was met at the door with a bobble head of Howard from The Big Bang Theory. Next thing I see, the Mr. Potato Head version of Kiss.  Walk a few more steps, swarms of ‘men’ huddled over the  Dungeons and Dragon cards and signs for the Pokemon weekly tournaments. A few more steps in, it’s the holy grail of board games.

When I was a kid I loved playing board games but this was a different caliber all together. In rows from A-Z, it’s like a buffet of dice rolling and role playing with everything from Star Wars Trouble to Elvis Monopoly.

Lesson one, ask the gamers in the store what to buy. Lesson two, don’t mistakenly ask the guy who spends every Friday night playing Version One of a board game with his friends, and every Saturday night playing Version Two with his parents and then asks if you’d like to join him on Wednesday night in the store for ‘Game Night’ and then takes back the offer when he finds out that the only games you currently own are Connect Four, Operation and that you only came in to check out whether they had Hungry Hippos.

Game tip: The Ticket to Ride Series is the hot seller
