I’d read that Ed’s Real Scoop was the best ice cream in Toronto, so I felt obligated to check it out.

Located on Queen St. East in the Beaches, Ed’s Real Scoop is legendary as it makes all of its ice cream and its homemade waffle cones. And they make some of the most unusual flavours like Pumpkin, Rhubarb Strawberry, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Maple Bacon, Guiness Stout, Egg Nog and the ever popular Burnt Marshmallow — which is what I headed down there for.

Apparently they usually have a line up out the door, but luckily for me I sailed straight on in and ordered. I have to say I was slightly disappointed. My Burnt Marshmallow was very creamy and I had a few crunchy marshmallow bits but in the end, it pretty much just tasted like plain old vanilla. The waffle cone was fantastic, but the best bit was the surprising little carmelized marshmallow at the bottom of the cone.
