Get away from the neon lights and the tackiness of Clifton Hill and step into the solitude of the Butterfly Conservatory. A botanical garden where thousands of butterflies float by and if you’re lucky…land on your shoulder.
The Butterfly Conservatory in Niagra Falls features over 2,000 colourful tropical butterflies and over 50 different species floating freely among lush, exotic blossoms and greenery. Set in an 11,000 sq.ft. conservatory, paths wind through the rainforest setting, past a pond and waterfall and the “Emergence” window where butterflies leave their cocoon and take their first flight.
We spent about an hour and a half there, but we’re amateur photographers and it’s a photographers paradise. But the money shot is if you can get a blue butterfly to land on your shoulder. Apparently if you wear bright clothes the butterflies will be more attracted to you.
The Butterfly Conservatory is one of Niagara’s most popular attractions but priced steeply at $13.50. I thought it was definitely worth it. But watch where you walk, you don’t want to squish the blue one!
