Scott SpeedmanEven though I’d been gone from Toronto for ten years, if there’s anything that remains consistent in this town, it’s the good ‘ol Rose and Crown.

Head up to Yonge and Eglinton and you’ll find this neighbourhood pub that’s been around since 1979. With limited bar selection at the infamous Yonge and Eligible, the Rose and Crown is always the best choice. It’s huge with plenty of seating and I’ve even spotted Canadian actor Scott Speedman there (Toronto is his hometown by the way). But the best time to go to the Rose and Crown is Thursday night for Thai night and their Spicy Pad Thai. It’s pretty damn good but my favourite thing is to watch a certain friend as the beads of sweat form on his forehead. It’s really not that spicy.

Rose and Crown Pad ThaiI’d heard that the Rose and Crown had changed ownership and been renovated, but it still looked and smelt the same to me. Even the gross toilets seemed to look and smell the same. It’s like coming back to my stale, beer soaked second home.

If you’re looking for a chilled drink with friends get there early. After 9pm this place gets pretty loud and always live music.
